Making Window Treatments Casual
When it comes to designing and styling your home it’s easy to get worked up about things. One thing you really don’t need to get stressed out about is window treatments. In fact, it can be completely stress free, fun and best of all, affordable.
Always make sure your fabrics are durable. A lot of people when they go about designing casually usually do so because they have some kids that can come stomping on through at any given time, ready to destroy all things fabric. This usually prevents people from purchasing anything nice, in fear of it being destroyed. Well, as long as you make sure all of your furnishings and fabric selections are secure, stain-resistant and durable. I’ve heard Sunbrella is a good one, as it’s great for both indoors and outdoors.
For the window treatments, if you use the simple gauzy sheer cotton, make sure it has scotch guard woven into its fabric, or have it treated by a seamstress, a dry-cleaner, or a re-upholstery shop.
Another great solution for the casual room is selecting a shutter, shade or blind to add to your window. This instantly gives your windows a smarter look, and makes it easier for you to control the light coming through. On top of that, it adds much more privacy to your home. Shutters, shades, and blinds can also add shape and balance.

It is always important in a casual setting to improvise everywhere possible to add personality to the room. Despite going about it all in a casual way, still introduce color and pattern to your window treatments. Do something like placing a rod to run across the windows to hold up some nice drapes to hand down.
Whatever you decide on, don’t let the feeling of being casual with your windows stop you from treating them the way they deserved to be treated!
