Construction siteIn the next 10 days members of the Senate will place a vote on an energy bill that would provide homeowners with rebates up to $8,000 for energy efficient retrofits. The Home Star Energy Retrofit Act, also know as “cash for caulkers” initiated by President Obama, previously passed in the House of Representatives in May. The bill will create more jobs, save homeowners’ money and reduce the amount of greenhouse emission gases. Rebates will be given to homeowners who add insulation, energy efficient windows and doors, sealing ducts and energy efficient water heating units. Each measure will be worth $1,500, with an entire house retrofit receiving a rebate of $8,000. To read more on the bill visit USA Today’s Green House.

Do you dislike the way a door looks open, or maybe you think it takes up too much space? Venetian Celegon has designed a rototranslating door that claims to take up 50% less space. The chic Ergon door rotates on a central axis mixing form and function. It has the design of a traditional door and handle, but pushes through both ways like a swinging door. These doors would fit well in small spaces or rooms with contemporary styles. Would you prefer this new age door or the traditional style?ergon two way doorergon two way doorergon two way doorergon two way doorImages from freshome
